Inside Our Home
We have a living room that’s open to
the dining room. We created a pass-through from the
kitchen space to the dining room as well. The home is
fairly open. Can’t you imagine a child sitting on the
barstool doing homework while we make dinner?
We have a small breakfast area off of
the kitchen as well as a small exercise room. Either room
could double as a play room rather easily.
The front bedroom is the area we envision putting the nursery or child’s room. We’ve got that room spruced up, but it’s waiting decoration until we know more about the child who will occupy the space. It used to be the master bedroom of the house and is a sizable room with hardwood floors, wainscot, and a ceiling fan. If we adopt an infant, we have a walnut bassinet that Candice’s grandfather made for us to use. If we adopt an older child, we’d keep the “big boy” or “big girl” bed in there & find some fun bed linens.
The master bedroom is located
diagonally across the hall from the front bedroom – so if
anything is needed, we can be in there in a moment’s notice.
The area above the porch (behind the
dormer) is an art studio where painting, jewelry-making, and
general craft takes place. We have lots of things that
kids would LOVE to play with in the studio. There is an
additional bedroom upstairs which is located off of a play room
at the top of the stairs. This room will make a
great space for an older child one day. The ceilings are
sloped and there is a built-in fish aquarium at the entry of
this bedroom. We are thinking about putting salt-water
fish in it. Todd wants a lion fish. Candice wants
a puffer fish. We haven’t figured out how to accommodate
both yet!
